Laser systems offer high precision targeting and range finding for a ballistic and missile systems.

Lasers are widely used in high-precision targeting applications to improve accuracy. They can be used to provide a highly visible spot, line or other light pattern for visual target identification or they can allow systems to hone in on reflected laser light to reach a target. For high-precision guidance systems and laser sights for ballistics accuracy, lasers improve both speed and accuracy.

As well as providing precise targeting solutions, lasers are also used for range finding and proximity measurement, using time of flight or laser triangulation techniques. By measuring the time for a pulse of laser light to be reflected from a target, or using triangulation on the position of a laser spot, a highly accurate measurement of distance can be measured to a target, essential for targeting and aiming systems as well as warning systems and navigation tools for military vehicles.
